When guests gathered on Tuesday for the unveiling of the new Samsung S8 and S8+ at the Renaissance Hotel, GRA Ikeja, perhaps they never knew what to expect at the event.
But then, like the S7 and S7+, Samsung again surprised the high-end segment of the mobile phone market with new interesting features of the new Samsung S8 and S8+.
The new design is bolder, sleeker and comes with a stunning infinity display. Every part of the phone’s layout has been redesigned to break through the confines of the smartphone screen. There has been an increase in the phone’s size. It comes with the biggest, most immersive screen on a smartphone of this size yet it’s easy to hold in one hand.
Perhaps what is most amazing about the new smartphones is the improved front camera. Most smartphone cameras work best during the day but the Samsung S8 and S8+ have a camera that works day and night, making it for you to take good selfies. The front and rear cameras are so fine-tuned that your photos come out bright and clear—even when there’s very little light.
“I used the Samsung S8 to shoot videos and take pictures. It performs brilliantly in low light situations,” said Banky W, Samsung brand ambassador.
With the new smartphones, you can be assured of selfies done right. The Smart Auto Focus tracks faces, so whether you use your arm or a selfie stick, everyone in the shot will be in focus. Also, the enhanced multi-frame image processing keeps all the selfies crisp and clear.
Arese Oguwo of Smart Money with Arese, agrees with Banky W, that the dark is no match for Galaxy S8 and S8+’s rear camera as the bright F1.7 lens and large 1.4µm pixels bring in more light when there’s not enough around.
With the S8 and S8+, you don’t have to worry about your privacy. You can use the Iris scan to scan your eyes as your security code. The patterns in your irises are unique to you and are virtually impossible to replicate, meaning iris authentication is one of the safest ways to keep your phone locked and the contents private.
Solomon Osibelu, Samsung Master Trainer, said Samsung has put in place effective mechanisms that prevent unwanted snooping, while making the phones surprisingly convenient for the user. There’s iris scanning for airtight security, face recognition for unlocking your phone right away, and defence-grade security that stands guard around the clock.
You can also protect your privacy using the fingerprint scanner. By placing your finger on the fingerprint sensor on the back, the phones unlock in one seamless move. You don’t have to wake up the phone even when it is in sleep mode.
With these new great features, why not immerse yourself in a bigger view that still fits comfortably in your hand with the all new Galaxy S8 and S8+?
