Kim Kardashian has joined the league of proud owners of foremost luxury watch brand, Cartier as she recently bought a Jackie O’s Cartier watch for N122, 958, 000 ($379,500) at a New York auction on Wednesday.
The timepiece, which Christie’s had expected to go for just N3, 888, 0000 ($120,000), was bought by a couple who submitted an anonymous bid. The watch was previously owned by former United States First Lady, Jackie Kennedy.
Kennedy had been given the watch by her brother-in-law Prince Stanislaw Radziwill, according to online reports.
It’s engraved with the date February 23, 1963, and commemorates a hike the prince participated in to support President Kennedy’s goal of making Americans healthier. It took place about nine months before Kennedy was assassinated.
Online reports say Kardashian plans to wear the watch, not just keep it on display.
Cartier is known for fine watchmaking. It is top on the list of most collected watch brand by aristocrats because the brand forges its style out of its extraordinary history, travels and encounters with exceptional personalities.
