The launch of this limited-edition whisky finished in five different wine casks makes it the first time a single malt will be so produced.
Newly released by Highland Distillers, The Dalmore is called The Dalmore Quintessence by those who have taste for rare breed luxury whisky. This whisky was aged in American oak former bourbon barrels before it was divided between Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon casks for five years.
This prolonged stay in casks gives it a multiple mix of red and black fruit notes. Red-wine casks have been used to add texture to single malts before, yet no distillery has ever released a whisky finished in five different types. This makes The Dalmore a quintessential first.
This limited-edition whisky is available in Selfridges (www.selfridges.co.uk) from Thursday July 28, 2016. Price: N383, 746.95 (£1,000)
