Periwinkle Estate located at Freedom Way, Lekki Phase I will play host to some of the big stars in the Christian music industry at Unusual Praise Concert put together by the Chapel Of Divine Mercy, Lekki.
Speaking at a media conference to herald the annual event on Thursday, Monsignor Paschal Nwaezeapu, Priest at the Catholic Charismatic church said the event has grown so big that the Divine Mercy ground can no longer contain the crowd. We are moving to a more prominent location at Periwinkle Estate.
According to him, the event started some years ago after the Charismatic Movement in the church held and a successful event that led them to organize a praise session on the grounds of the church. Five years later, the priest suggested the event be taken further. The idea birthed Unusual Praise Concert.
Chairperson of the organizing committee, Lanre Da Silva said the event is for both Catholics and non-Catholics as the essence is to thank God for all he has done for everyone throughout the year.
“It is a Catholic gathering for broth Catholics and non -Catholics. When you sing to God together is a bigger experience. There have been testimonies of people who have had positive experiences as a result of the event. It is a special feeling of God’s presence,” she explained.
One of the artistes billed to perform, Nathaniel Bassey explained that praise is a response to the greatness of God, which explains why he decided to participate in the event.
“It is like an offering that you give. With the new covenant, praise is now the new
The praise is about the preparation of your heart. There is a heart preparation to ensure that my heart is right with the Lord, and there is musical preparation. It is also about Lord what would you like to hear from these people,” he said.
Some of the other artists who will perform alongside Nathaniel Bassey are:
Bolaji, Chinyere Udoma, Chukwuemeka, Tope Alabi, Bukola Bekes, and other homegrown artistes from Chapel of Divine Mercy.
